Cinque Island
Cinque island, declared as a sanctuary. The lure of underwater coral gardens and unspoiled beaches specially a sand bar joining two islands are irresistible. Suitable for SCUBA diving, swimming, fishing and Camping.Reaching here: It takes two hours from Chidiyatapu, and three-and-a-half hours from Wandoor to travel to this island by boat. Permission is required from the Forest Department to visit this island.
Jolly Buoy
It offers a breath taking underwater view of coral and marine life. It is an ideal place for Corals and marine life can be seen by snorkeling or with the help of glass bottom boats. Sea bathing and basking on the sun kissed beach. Permission is required from the Forest Department to visit this island.
Red Skin Island
Another island in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is Red Skin Island. It has a beautiful beach offering spectacular views of corals and marine life. It is an ideal place for Corals and marine life can be seen by snorkeling or with the help of glass bottom boats, sea bathing and basking on the sun kissed beach. Permission is required from the Forest Department to visit this island.
Havelock Island
About 48 Kms. from Port Blair, this island provides idyllic resort in the lap of virgin beach and unpolluted environment. Attraction: Its white sandy beaches, spell bounding turquoise waters, coral reefs. Its two world renowned beaches are: Vijaynagar Beach (Beach No. 5) and Radhanagar Beach (Beach No. 7)
Ideal for: Snorkeling, scuba diving, elephant ride and spending time with nature.
Reaching here: It’s a three hours journey by boat from Port Blair. A Tourist Ferry also operates between the islands once a day. One can visit the island stay or return the same day (subject to wind/ weather condition and ticket availability)
Ross island
Ross island, the erstwhile capital of port Blair during the British regime. Manicured lawns that led up to clubhouses, swimming pools, granaries, officers messes, tennis courts and a majestic church lie in ruins, reclaimed by nature after an earthquake in June 1941.
Viper island
Viper island, the island derives its name from the vessel ‘Viper’ to the island in 1789 The Britishers used to harbour convicts here. The first jail was constructed here which was abandoned after the construction of Cellular Jail. It has a gallows atop a hillock, where condemned prisoners were hanged. Sher Ali, who killed Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India in 1872, was also hanged here. Harbour cruise, provides a panoramic view of different points around the harbour and includes a trip to Viper Island.
Chatham Saw Mill
The Chatham saw mill, one of the oldest and largest mills in Asia. Is built on a tiny island connected to port Blair by bridge. Dating back to 1836, this enormous workshops was built padauk wood (expensive wood variety).It is a store- base of timbers like Padauk, Gurjan, Marble, Satinwood etc. Now logging in the mill is banned and most of wood is imported from Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand. The island is near the haddo wharf, which is the largest wharf in the island
Little Andaman Island
Location: Journey 9 hrs. By sea from Port Blair towards south. Its home to a very beautiful beach at Butler Bay, a waterfall and plantation of oil palms. Apart from this there are several sandy beaches all along the coastline of the island.
Attraction: Hutbay Waterfall, the break water at Hut Bay offers an excellent view to the tourists. It is the residential of “Onge” tribes. The Onge tribes live in this island.
Neil Island
The beautiful lush green forest and sandy beaches in this island, Beautiful beaches at Lakshmanpur, Bharatpur, Sitapur and the natural bridge formation on the sea-shore are the attration.
Mount Harriet (Highest peak in the South Andaman’s)
This place is an ideal for a nice and fascinating over view of the outer islands and the sea. The summer headquarters of the Chief Commissioner during British Raj, It is the highest peak in the South Andaman’s (365 meters high). One can trek up to Madhuban through a nature trail and can find rare endemic birds, animals and butterflies.
Chidiya Tapu (Picnic spot )
The lush green mangroves, forest cover with numerous chirping birds and the Sylvan Sands and Munda pahar beaches make it an ideal picnic site. The forest guesthouse situated on top of a hillock provides a fabulous view of isolated islands, submerged corals and the breath-taking sunset. Chidiya Tapu is the southern most tip of South Andaman.
Corbyn’s Cove Beach
Corbyn’s Cove Beach the Coconut palm fringed beach, ideal for sea bathing and sun-basking. Facilities like The Waves Restaurant, bar and changing room etc., are available near to the beach. Snake island is nearby. Historical remains like Japanese bunker can be seen her.
Mahatma Gandhi marine National Park-
Wandoor The Mahatma Gandhi marine National Park is one of the best of its kind. The national park provides an opportunity to experience the fascinating world of mangrove forest along the creeks and tropical forest and coral reefs. 15 small and large islands is adobe to finest marine ecosystems.
